This block is called Stellar Elegance by Brigette Heitland of Zen Chic. It is stunning! This block is made with Foundation Paper Piecing and the pattern has full size templates, just make sure you print them at 100% size and check the 1" grid to make sure the block ends up being the right size when you are done.

It took me a minute to figure out what I wanted to do with this one, and then I hummed and hawed about the fabric placement until I finally landed the plane last night. Full disclosure, I am a MESSY foundation paper piecer. I love FPP but I envy those of you that can visualize the reverse of it all. I usually have to rip a few seams out because I put something on with the wrong angle or I sew the wrong sides together, hence I just waste a TON of fabric. So when I take on an FPP project, I over cut my pieces and cross my fingers. Here's the aftermath of it all :-)!
For those of you that don't want to make an FPP block, several people are substituting the Sunshine Star Block from Blockheads 3. I love this one and now I want to make this one too. If I find the time, I may whip it up. This is why I love this sew along. There are so many blocks that you can pull from to make this your own.
I hope this inspires you to make something today!
Happy Sewing!
