I'm so excited to announce The Quilt Spot's very first stitch along starting in January!
As America prepares to celebrate a very special birthday in 2026, I thought this was the perfect time to finally start stitching the One Nation Cross Stitch Sampler by ByGone Stitches. I've admired this design for years, and now feels like the perfect moment to bring it to life—one stitch at a time.
Here's the Plan:
I’ve broken the chart into 6-ish monthly assignments. We’ll stitch a few state names each month, wrapping up with the stars in June/July so we can celebrate on July 4th (fingers crossed!)

I usually start from the bottom right, so I’m planning to stitch the right border first to make sure everything lines up just right. After that, I’ll begin working on the states—and I might sprinkle in a few stars each month so they don’t all pile up at the end.

Materials & Floss Options:
The original chart calls for:
28 ct Cashel Linen in Ale by Picture This Plus
Classic Colorworks Floss
I’ve done some sampling and I think I’m going to stitch mine in 36ct Ale and Belle Soie Silks 1 over 2.
The Classic Colorworks silk and cotton colors are very close in red and blue, but the Belle Soie Silk white has a slightly creamier, antique look—which I love! It gives the piece a warm, vintage feel. I did a small test stitch, and let me tell you—I love working with the silk!
Here's a picture of all the floss options side-by-side with DMC so you can compare.

What You'll Need:
We’ll have floss packs available in both silk and cotton. These are designed for stitching 2 over 2 on 14/28 count fabric. If you’re stitching 1 over 2 on higher counts, you’ll have plenty of floss with these packs.
We’ll also be stocking all the fabric count options in Ale from Picture This Plus.
Fabric recommendation: Half a yard is ideal. You won’t need the full piece on 36 ct, but on 28 ct, anything less might be tight.
Stitch Count: 400 x 210
14/28 ct: 28 ½” x 15”
16/32 ct: 25” x 13”
18/36 ct: 22” x 12”
Reserve all your supplies now for shipping in December! If we sell out, check back. We'll keep restocking this program as quickly as we can.

Right click this image and download to share it along with your One Nation progress! We would love to see it!

I’ll be sharing my progress on Instagram, so be sure to follow the hashtag #OneNationSAL2026. I’d love for you to stitch along with me—it’s going to be such a fun and meaningful project!
P.S. I’m thinking about customizing the bottom row to say 1776 – 2026. We’ll see if I can make it work—fingers crossed!
As always, I hope this inspires you to make something today!

This sampler is absolutely stunning, and I’ve been looking for a creative project like this to help me de-stress! Honestly, being a student in the city right now is so overwhelming, and I’ve been buried under my dissertation for weeks. It reached a point where I actually had to look for some Assignment Help Edinburgh just to clear my schedule so I could finally sit down with a needle and thread without feeling guilty about my deadlines. There is nothing better than a bit of "slow stitching" to clear your head after a long day of library sessions. I can't wait to get started on the first few rows!
I loved reading about your first stitch-along and how excited everyone is to work together on the One Nation Sampler; it made me smile thinking about stitching with friends in real time. It took me back to a busy term when I struggled to keep up and even needed online nursing class help just to stay on track while juggling projects and fun things like hobbies. Your post reminded me that shared creative moments make hard days better.
