January Wrap Up!

Time flies when your stitching!

I can't believe January is almost over. I am however wishing this cold weather would go away. It's been extra cold here in New Jersey this winter and we're supposed to get a wallop of a snow storm tomorrow, so I'm ready with all the groceries. Just kidding, I'm ready with all my sewing projects! We have peanut butter, we'll survive! :-)

Before I settle in here's a mash up of several things I'm working on so let's dive in.

First up! I made a VIDEO! This has been on our to do list for a long time but it's quite the endeavor. Pulling everything together, filming, editing, uploading. It took all day yesterday to get this pulled together. I need a microphone and I say "um" a thousand times, but you have to start somewhere.

My house is a hot mess after this day, here's a behind the scenes photo AFTER I've cleaned up a bit. Obviously I still need to clean more.....

True confessions, I broke a light when I was setting up and almost stopped there. Don't let the glam of the internet fool you. The truth of the chaos is behind then scenes. Everyone is human. I know that sometimes the hardest part is getting started, so I feel a sense of relief that I started, but I have an even bigger amazement for all of you out there that have been filming and making content - my hat is off to you. I'm hoping to make one video a month. Hopefully since I've made one, the next one will be easier, wish me luck!

Next up - One Nation Progress!

I am loving this stitch! I find my self saving the long rows for soccer & swim practice. I thought I would loath them but I'm liking the "fill in" aspect.

You'll see in the video I made it a little further then the pics I took here, and I ended up stitching the blue top line so I could trim down my fabric. I have one week left to catch up to our assignments.

For all the details on this stitch along, here's a link to our original blog post.

I'm storing this project in one of Irina Cozy Knit's embroidered project bags. I'm loving the Tilda lining and accents. My project fits in to the bag perfectly!

To find her project bag click here.

My daughter also designed these star floss drops for me. They have 1776 and 2026 embedded in the design in a set of 3.

She has begged for a 3D printer for months and we finally caved over Christmas. She's been making all sorts of things and it's pretty amazing what this technology can do. My husband and I keep joking that it's the Jetsons. She's made a few of these star floss drops. If you're interested, you can order a set on our website.

This stitch has been super fun! If you need supplies, shop our website. All the Pre-Orders have shipped and the website has what we currently have in stock. If we sell out of any of the cloth cuts, we'll restock them. Just keep checking back.

Next Up - Winter/Valentine's Mash Up

In the video you can hear me rambling about this project, but I went down a mint and soft pink rabbit hole during the holidays. I needed a way to mash up "winter" stitching with soft pink and here's the result.

All stitches are stitched on 28ct New Khaki Lugana and here are the floss colors:

Weeks: Cypress, Chesapeake, Verdigris

Classic Colorworks: Cocoa Bean, Ripe Melon, Barrel Cactus

DMC: BLANC, 502, 963

There are some orange in the carrot noses but I think I just pulled a strand of something soft orange to make these guys. More to come next year!

A Quilting Life Block of the Month 2026

I love this quilt along. I think I've sewn along with Sherri for the past 4 or 5 years. This is a mystery sew along she hosts every year. This year she's using red, white and blue fabrics so I decided to use French General.

To find Sherri's blog post and the free Sew Along Patterns, click here.

I'm using this fat eighth bundle and 3 yards of Pearl (13529-21). This a mystery so I'll figure out the rest of the fabrics for the sashing, border and binding when we get closer to the end.

If you want to use what we're using, you can shop for supplies here.

I feel like I should stop here before I ramble on much more. There is so much more in the video. I don't want to make you read a novel, but I have a lot of projects in the works. I have big dreams this year and I might need a second set of hands and fingers.....

As always, I hope this inspires you to make something today!
